Philosophy

The launch of Sojana in September 2003 heralded the beginning of a new wave in cruiser design. Coining the phrase 'Fast Cruising', Sojana is as speedy on the race-course as she is comfortable cruising the Caribbean seas.

Designed by leading yacht designers Farr Yacht Design, Sojana was created with three modes of sailing in mind. First and foremost she needed to be a comfortable yacht to cruise in with minimum crew and minimum heel. Secondly, she needed to be a fast and stable racing yacht, capable of participating in long distance ocean races such as the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. Finally, she needed to be able to race equally well in inshore events such as Antigua Race Week, Les Voiles de St Tropez and the Sardina Rolex Cup.

As a result Sojana has a supremely adaptable ketch rig and with a potential 7,000 square feet of sail she can achieve sustained reaching speeds of over 20 knots, a speed superior to many similar sized cruising yachts.

The flexibility of the sail configuration allows Sojana to be easily handled in various conditions and sailing modes. This means that she can easily accommodate a large crew for racing and yet be handled by the owner and his friends with a professional crew of just four or five for cruising.

The yacht also has the benefit of precise steering and this, combined with the visionary exterior styling and ergonomically designed, safe deck layout mean that she really is a pleasure to sail in all wind and sea conditions.
